Stalheimskleiva is a hidden and maybe lost gem…:-( It is an impressive piece of road that was built between 1842 and 1846 to help speed up mail transportation. The interesting part is only 1,5 km long and has 13 hairpins, but is among the steepest roads in Europe: 20% or 1/5 per meter! Unfortunately, the road is now closed because heavy tourist busses has destroyed it…:-( Don’t know when it will open, or IF, but I will update this page as soon as I get news…

The waterfalls ‘Sivlefossen’ and ‘Stalheimsfossen’ with respectivly 140 and 125 meter free waterfalls – are framing the road beautifully as you can see on the picture…
