Røldalsfjellet (Road 520) is a spectacular 41 km long, narrow mountain road between Sauda and Røldal. It is also part of the Norwegian Scenic Route Ryfylke. Some claim this is the most beautiful part, since you ride all the way from the fjord and up to the high mountain with an altitude of 900 meters above sea level.
After riding this route summer of -23, I have to say that so far, this is my favourite!
The climb, the changing scenery, the view, the twisty road. All spectacular!
Røldalsfjellet is winter closed between Hellandsbygd and Røldal, but the road from Sauda to Breiborg is normally opened till Easter for all the visiting mountain hikers.
